A young Afghan girl waits for her mother outside the village school in Khakrez, Afghanistan. Her mother is attending the Medical Seminar, (MEDSEM). A MEDSEM is a medical seminar that teaches local Afghan men and women about health care topics. Due to cultural differences, the classes for men and women were separated. The actual classes were taught to the women by Afghan midwifes. These students will then be able to take the knowledge back to their villages and spread health and wellness throughout Afghanistan. This is only the second MEDSEM ever in Afghanistan.
