The diminution of the urates and calcium saltsis, however, not due to the kidney changes but to metabolicchanges and only the diminished quantity of urine of normal orslightly decreased specific gravity and a persistent albuminuriawithout casts are indicative of senile contracted kidney (see ChronicInterstitial Nephritis). Treatment.—Nothing need be done unless the amount ofurine is markedly diminished when drinking large quantitiesof alkaline mineral water will be found effective. Other diuret-ics are rarely required.
