Swaledale ewes feeding on hay with Ribblehead Viaduct, near Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, in the background. The Swaledale is one of the main breeds of hill sheep in the Yorkshire Dales and in Winter they receive daily hay, haylage or silage feed to compensate for the poor Winter grazing. Ribblehead (AKA Batty Moss) Viaduct is one of the most famous structures on the Settle-Carlisle railway line. At the time of the photograph it is under repair, hence the scaffolding.
