SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Jennifer Groman (left), Heritage Emergency National Task Force, and Juan Carlos Roman, General Archives of Puerto Rico Reference Archivist in Charge of Acquisitions, inspect damage and debris on Oct. 23 at the exterior of the archive near where the building’s backup generator was destroyed during Hurricane Maria. The General Archives has been without power since Sept. 20 and historical documents dating back to the eighteenth century are in danger of irreversible damage from hot and humid conditions.
