Sarsen stones in a dry valley at Fyfield Down National Nature Reserve near Avebury in Wiltshire, England,

Sarsen stones are sandstone blocks, most common on the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire. They are post-glacial remains of a cap of cenozic silcrete that once covered much of southern England. A large concentration of sarsen stones is found here in this dry valley on Fyfield Down, which is a National Nature Reserve, where the stones are also known as grey wethers.
