His earlyeducation was, obtained in the publicschools of the city and at SacredHeart College, and his later studieswere pursued at St. Marys College,Oakland. From the last named in-stitution he graduated May 27, 1897,as a Bachelor of Laws. Securingthe Professorship of Greek andLatin at the Sacramento Institute,he did successful work as an in-structor until his admission to thebar in June, 1901. He continued hislaw studies in the offices of vScott &Dooling of Hollister, and Lennon &Hawkins of San Francisco, and inJanuary, 1902, was appointed Deputy District Attorney by Lewis He remained in this position until the expiration of term of office, proving himself so capable that William , who next took charge of the depar
