The "Yomper" Royal Marines Memorial Statue at sunset in Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire United Kingdom. I was walking along the seafront in Southsea towards Portsmouth last week and I saw the sun setting behind this amazing memorial in memory of those who lost their lives in the Falklands War. The statue of 'The Yomper' was made by sculptor Philip Jackson. It is modelled on a photograph of Corporal Peter Robinson yomping to 'Sapper Hill', with Union Jack fluttering from radio antenna. SLR rifle and '58' pattern webbing.
