Resident. Abundant in the highlands of Chiriqui and Veraguas and found also on Cerro Campana and Cerro Chame in western Prov- ince of Panama. On Volcan de Chiriqui and around Boquete, Chiriqui W. W. Brown, Jr., (Bangs, Proc. New England Zool. Club, vol 3, 1902, p. 70) collected it between 1200 and 3000 m. I found it at Sereno, Chiriqui, at 1110 m. In Veraguas, Arce collected it at Chitra, Calove- vora, and Castillo (Salvin and Godman, Biol. , Aves, vol. 1, pt. 48, 1886, p. 371). There is also an old skin in the Smithsonian marked Cascajal, Code. Presumably this was taken on the high open slopes on the Pacific side, above the head of the Rio Cascajal, which is a tributary of the Rio Code del Norte. Dr. Matthew W.
