Europe Italy Piedmont Turin The Porta Palatina La Porta Palatina , the Gate Principalis Dextera that allowed access from the north to the Julia Augusta Taurinorum, or the civitas Roman Today known as Turin. It is the main archaeological evidence of the Roman city, and one of the city gates of the first century BC better preserved in the world. Along the ancient theater, located a short distance, is included in the Archaeological Park opened in 2006 The Gate Principalis Dextera providing access tocardo maximus, currently identifiable in Via Porta Palatina and Via San Tommaso. Its imposing ruins are now visible in the middle of an open area, today's Piazza Cesare Augusto. Entirely analogous to the Gate Decumana, included in the subsequent structure of the medieval Palazzo Madama, it testifies to an example of typical results in cavædium, or a structure with double doors statio, a quadrangle on the inside of the remains of which, set in front gates, are evidence of the High more than thirty meters, the two corner towers are characterized by a square base and a body divided by a facet to sixteen sides.
