'Keppel', (1725-1786), 1830. Admiral Augustus Keppel (1725-1786) Royal Navy officer and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1755-1778. He served during the War of the Austrian Succession, the Seven Years' War and the American Revolutionary War and was court-martialled and later aquitted following dispute at the Battle of Ushant.
