A hunting air gun, German, circa 1770. Octagonal barrel with smooth bore in 9 mm calibre. Dovetailed sights. There is a monogram, "JGH", in a floral cartouche on the barrel in front of the chamber. Simulated iron flintlock (cock does not move). Double set trigger. Lightly carved walnut full stock with horn nosecap. Brass furniture decorated with hunting scenes in fine engraving and relief. The butt plate has an opening for the air reservoir concealed in the butt stock. Replacement wooden ramrod with horn tip. Length cm. historic, historical, 18th century,,
