Maniac Pumpkin Carvers is a creative art studio specialising in elaborate pumpkin art. Carved pumpkins are provided for parties, events and occasions of all kinds. The pumpkins used are grown locally by New York farmers. In 1976 New York established Greenmarket programmes providing an outlet for regional farmers to sell their fruits, vegetables and other products at open-air markets in the city. One of the best known is that held at Union Square, 4 days each week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday), 8am-6pm. Here we see the Saturday market.
