A stained glass window of 1926 by C E Kempe & Co. (artist John Lisle) depicting King David playing a lyre, All Saints, Hough-on-the-Hill, Lincolnshire


John William Lisle worked for the Kempe Studios from c1886 until his death in 1927. Lisle, became chief draughtsman of the Kempe Studios after John Carter had left the firm, and was the leading influence on the firm's artistic direction in perpetuating what became known as the "Kempe Style". Charles Eamer Kempe died in 1907, and in accordance with his will became a limited company, C. E. Kempe & Co., which was run by Water Tower until its closure in 1934.
