The fingers are thenpushed along in these grooves from the roots of the nails tothe wrists. After repeating the movement several times onthe back of the hand, the patients hand is turned so that thepalmar surface will be up, and the same movement repeatedas before, with the modification that the fingers are carrieda little farther up the wrist until the heel of the operatorshand rests in the hollow of the patients hand, when slightrotary movement and firm pressure should be made, for thepurpose of compressing firmly and emptying the numerousveins of the fleshy portion of the palm.
