MILLS' RELIABLE ONION 5EED, 1897. NEW CUSTOMERS t^SZ. reliable Onion Seed Is only grown from carefully hand sorted and selected bulbs, Is always of high germinating quality and of unusual vigor of growth. My Onion Seed has a reputation in almost every prominent Onion growing district in America, unsur- passed by any other house in the trade. I TAKE pride in the record of my fine strains of onions. Good onion seed is of the utmost i m- portance, and with no vegetable—with perhaps a single exception of the cabbage—does the value of the crop raised depend more strictly on the quality of the seed than the onion. I know I have as fine stock as usual to offer this season, and from the fact that customers a few years ago purchased a few pounds now use several hundred pounds of my seed is the best evidence that it is reliable. Gardeners in the South as well as in the Eastern, Middle and West- ern States can grow full size onions the first year from the black seed, and for this purpose 4 to 5 pounds of seed are required per acre. To raise small sets 50 to 60 pounds of seed per acre are required, and for this purpose I would recommend Yellow Danvers, Yellow Dutch or Strasburg, White Silver Skin, White Globe, and Extra Early Red. The following prices are by mail postpaid. Yellow Dutch or Strasburg. Bulbs good size and quite flat ; skin yellow but a darker color than the Danvers, flesh white, Large Bed Wethersfleld—This is the most popular of Red Onions, of large size and fine form, as shown by the beautiful engraving. Skin deep purplish red, flesh purplish white, moderately fine grained, and stronger in flavor than the yellow and white onions. For general purposes there is no red onions in this country so largely grown. It is very productive and good for shipping, and an excellent keeper.
