Dusk at Bamburgh Castle, situated on the Northeast coast of Northumberland just outside the town of Bamburgh

Bamburgh Castle is built on a basalt rock outcrop on the Northeast coast of Northumberland it was previously a fort belonging to the native Britons. The area changed hands many times with Anglo-Saxon, Vikings and then the Normans built a new castle on the same site, which now forms the core of the current castle. The castle continued to change hands until it eventually fell into total disrepair and was finally bought by the Victorian industrialist William Armstrong, who completed it’s restoration. The castle is opened to the public and still belongs to the Armstrong family.
