The special drying cap consists of a perforated metal screw cap covered with a wad of cotton wool between two layers of muslin, and is fastened in place by a ring of stainless steel. The worker is wearing a special mask made from wire, rubber and plastic. The wire forms arms, like a pair of glasses, which hook over the wearer's ears. It passes over the bridge of the nose, (the wire has a rubber coating at this point) and then hooks through a transparent plastic bag which is suspended from the wire over the wearer's face, covering the mouth. The wire forms a rigid rim to the plastic bag, keeping it slightly open, probably to catch any droplets of moisture from the wearer's nose.
