A historical poster warning against acting like Typhoid Mary (1869-1938), an Irish-born American cook who was an asymptomatic carrier of typhoid disease, and who infected 122 people, at least five of whom died. She did not believe she was ill and refused to stop working as a cook; as a result, she was forcibly quarantined for 26 years.
