There was a verydistinguished gathering of literary and artisticpeople, and an excellent progamme of musicwas gone through. A very pretty operatta, entitled The FairyCrown, in which a large number of childrentook part, was given on the 1st inst. at theHampstead Conservatoire. The libretto andlyrics were by May Donaldson, and the orches-tration by Paul Graener. The operetta w;usa signal success, not only from a scenic, butfrom an artistic point of view. Miss GladysEdwards made a delightful Prince, and asthe Princess, Miss Emmeline Chant won en-thusiastic applause. Miss Dorothy Mannvochdeserves special mention for her realisticrendering of the character of the East Wind,and Mrs. Clara Edwardes old-world songs, as The Grandmother, were exquisite.
