Saint Benezet the Bridge Builder is a saint of the Catholic Church and considered the founder of the Bridge Building Brotherhood. Legend says that he was a shepherd boy who saw a vision during an eclipse in 1177 that told him to build a bridge over the Rhone River at Avignon. This would become the Pont Saint-Benezet usually called the Avignon Bridge.
