A bare Dawn Redwood tree after the foliage has dropped in autumn


Formerly considered an extinct species, the Dawn Redwood was rediscovered in 1941 in a remote forest in China. Subsequent breeding programs at nurseries around the globe have made it a popular landscape tree.
