Exposed sandstone rock at a disused quarry. This is Permo-triassic sandstone. It formed during arid conditions when Britain was nearer the equator. Historically, it has been an important source of high quality building stone. Part of this site is now protected and has been designated a Site of Special Interest (SSSI) because of its geological importance. Photographed in Grinshill, Shropshire, UK.
