PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD DINGMANS FERRY, the many beautiful waterfalls whichcrowd Pike county, none have greater claimsoil the tourist than Dingmans. They are to befound on Dingmans creek, a short distance-above the junction of that stream with the Del-aware river. The Falls are four in number ; thehighest, kn\vn by the prosaic nameof Soap-Trough, or the more poeticone of Silver Thread, having asheer descent of [50 feet. A thickgrowth of forest trees completelyarches the fall, forming, with thestream as its bed, a kind of naturaltunnel through which one can lookup almost perpendicularly and seeonly a scrap of sky overhead. TheManiac Watersare where thestream seemsto lash itself in-to a frenzy inits attempts totear away the elevation of one hundred and seventy-five feetin a succession of leaps, the general effect ofwhich is heightened by the shapes that the watertakes at different angles.
