Very soon after, his malady returned with increased power;and he was conveyed to a hospital at Baton Rouge. Here thiswasting form of disease gradually effected its fatal mission; andon the 6th of February, 1864, far from the endearments of home,from the tender care of wife, and the fond caresses of children,he closed his earthly warfare. He was buried side by side withhis deceased comrades of the hospital.
