A First World War period British Army cap badge of the 6th (Duke of Connaught’s Own) Battalion, Hampshire Regiment. The 1/6th Battalion landed in India in November 1914 with the 43rd Wessex Division. They remained there until 1917, when they were transferred to Mesopotamia, attached to the 17th Indian Division. The 2/6th Battalion was formed in September 1914 as a ‘second line’ home service unit.
