Medea Slays Children

In Greek mythology, Medea was the daughter of King Aeetes at Colchis on the Black Sea. When Jason went to get the Golden Fleece, Medea helped him and then escaped with him to Corinth in Greece. They married and had two sons. But when Jason fell in love with Glauce, the daughter of Corinth's king, Medea left with her two sons and then killed them, as portrayed in this 1906 illustration.
