Geltmacher receivedhis early education in the district schools ofMcDonough County, and has always lived onthe farms operated by his father, assisting thelatter in general farming and stock-raisinguntil his retirement. They made all the im-provements on the farm now belonging to hisfather, and devoted considerable attention tothe raising of Shorthorn cattle. On December 24, 1S95, the subject of this. Geltmacher is a daughter of David andMartha .1. (.Jeffries) Adams, and her fatherwas a resident of Iowa, who was an earlysettler in Fulton County, where he was en-gaged in farming until a recent period. Of lateyears, he has followed the occupation of apainter. His wife is a native of Missouri. Theunion of Mr. Geltmacher with Miss ^Adams re-sulted in two children: Orville Guy andHarry Raymond. In politics, the subject ofthis sketch is a supporter of the Democraticparty. He is a man of excellent characterand his record is beyond reproach.
