THE PROPOSED CHANNEL FERRY: LONGITUDINAL SECTION OF FERRY STEAMER; The steamer is proposed to be 450 feet in length, 57 feet beam, and 95 feet over the paddle boxes, propelled by disconnected engines of 1400 horse power nominal, by which such a rate of speed will be attained as will enable them to perform the voyage from shore to shore in one hour, while from their form and size, motion in any state of the weather would be almost imperceptible.
