They should have a place in every garden. STRAWBERRIES. First of the Small Fruits in the month of May comes the beautiful, wholesome and appetiz- ing Strawberry. The profits that may result from its cultivation, when properly conducted, are enough to satisfy the highest expectations. Plants in March, April, May, September or October, on good ground, deeply worked and well manured. Vegetable manure (muck rotted turf, wood soil, ashes, etc.) is the best. Bone dust is excellent. Set in 3^ foot rows, 15 inches apart in row for field culture, and 15 inches each way for garden. Cultivate clean, mulch late in the fall, uncover crown early in spring, remove mulch after fruiting, and spade in light dressing of manure. Don't Forget.—Strawberry plants will be mailed postpaid at dozen prices. Add 20c to hundred prices to pay postage. TWO NEW STRAWBERRIES. Ideal and Oriole are two new varieties of promise, which we are pleased to offer. They are from good stock—Bubach crossed with Hoffman, combining the good qualities of both parents. The names "Ideal" and "Oriole" were given by Prof. S. B. Heiges, the well-known U. S. Pomologist, and are described as follows by the introducer :— Ideal. It is Ideal in every respect. In form no berry could be more perfect. In color it is just right; the same dark red that distinguishes the Wilson.
