Duke of Gloucester was the last express passenger steam locomotive built for British his locomotive was built as a three cylinder compound with Caprotti gear. Caprotti gear allows the engine to be run at very short cut offs. 71000 was not very successful in service but was brilliant after rebuilding with a Kylchap exhaust.
