Taking it all in all, the first three years of the Polytechnic were years of growth anddevelopment, and those who had the privilege of being a part of the institution during thesethree years, will never regret it. Powerful industries are being de-veloped. Nature is continually yielding to mankind a vast store of wealth to be trans-formed, adjusted, and managed. The competition in business is becoming more keen fromyear to year. As a result of these things, the demands for a careful and thorough trainingfor Life work, is greater than it has ever been in the history of our country. The Polytechnic Institute has a well organized two year Commercial Course to meet thedemands for efficient service in business. The most important purpose of our two yearcourse in business, is to equip the student in those things that are essential to good citizen-ship in whatever line the student may be found after leaving the school for the active dutiesof life. Clerical proficiency, rapid figuring, speed and accuracy in shorthand and typewriting, arevery necessary to success in office work. These things are properly emphasized, but wealso include in our
