The Joints of the Skull, excepting the temporo-maxillary articulation andtlie articulations bet\\een the skull and the spinal column, are in the form ofsutures which afford immobility and firmness with elasticity. The Sutures of the Skull may be mistaken for fractures, and the AVormianbones, which are situated in the lines of the sutures, may be mistaken for frag-ments outlined by fractures. The sagittal suture is situated in the median line of the vault of thecranium, and extends from the bregma to the lambda. The bregma is situated atthe junction of the coronal and sagittal sutures, and at the jjoint where a line,drawn perpendicular to Reids base line at the preauricular fossa, crosses themedian line of the cranial vault. The lambda is situated at the junction of thesagittal and lambdoid sutures, and about two and three-fourth inches, or sevencentimeters, above
