The 747-400 is an improved model with increased range. It has wingtip extensions of 6 ft ( m) and winglets of 6 ft ( m), which improve the type's fuel efficiency by four percent compared to previous 747 versions. The 747-400 introduced a new glass cockpit designed for a flight crew of two instead of three, with a reduction in the number of dials, gauges and knobs from 971 to 365 through the use of electronics. The type also features tail fuel tanks, revised engines, and a new interior. The longer range has been used by some airlines to bypass traditional fuel stops, such as Anchorage. Emirates SkyCargo (Arabic: الإمارات للشحن الجوي) is a cargo airline based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is the air freight division of Emirates, which started operations in October 1985, the same year Emirates was formed. Since then it has been the main cargo division of Emirates, and the anchor cargo airline at Al Maktoum International Airport, its main hub. Emirates SkyCargo operates dedicated cargo flights to 20 destinations in 15 countries from Al Maktoum International Airport, and through the Emirates network has access to additional 79 destinations Whilst using bellyhold capacity in the Emirates' passenger fleet, it also operates freighter aircraft. Emirates SkyCargo is a subsidiary of The Emirates Group, which has over 40,000 employees, and is wholly owned by the Government of Dubai directly under the Investment Corporation of Dubai TNT Express’ airline subsidiary, TNT Airways, and Emirates SkyCargo expand their cooperation by signing a code-share and blocked-space agreement. Under the agreement, Emirates SkyCargo will place its airline code and use space on TNT Airways’ B777 freighter flights on the New York JFK to Liege and Hong Kong-Dubai-Liege routes.
