Aerial of Asbyrgi Canyon, Jokulsargljufur National Park, Iceland
Asbyrgi was most likely formed by two catastrophic glacial floods. The first 8-10000 years ago and then approx. 3000 years ago. There are legends about how this area was formed. It is also said to be the capital city of city of the “Hidden People” who live in the cracks within the surrounding cliffs.
