Patrick Curren had the advantages ofbut a common school education, and at theearly age of ten years, secured work in acotton mill where he remained seven years,then for a short time worked in a brickyard. He then for nineteen years followedboating on the Schuylkill canal, betweenPottsville, Schuylkill county, Pennsylvania,and the cities of the Atlantic after relinquishing the boatingbusiness, he was engaged for a time in thedistilling business in Philadelphia. Soonafter the close of the late Civil war, he em-barked in the wholesale liquor business inNorristown, where he has remained eversince. Politically Mr. Currcn is a Democrat,and is a councilman from the fifth ward ofthe borough of Norristown. I
