Very hardy and in every way desir- able, as it keeps in flower a long time. Reevesii—A charming shrub, with narrow, p o i n te d leaves, and large round clusters of white flowers that cover the whole plant. Thunberg's (Thunbergii)— Extremely neat and grace- ful in its habits; dwarfish and rounded; d r o o p i ng branches; narrow, yellow- ish green foliage; white flowers, early in spring. One of the best and de- serves a place everywhere. Van Houtte—The grandest of all the Spireas; it is a beautiful ornament for the lawn at any season, but when in flower it is a com- plete fountain of white bloom, the foliage hardly showing. Clusters o f twenty to thirty flat white florets make up the raceme, and these clusters are set close along the drooping stems. Perfectly hardy, and an earlv bloomer. STRAWBERRY, OR SPINDLE TREE (Euonymus) Red—This is a very beautiful small tree, or shrub, when covered with its red berries through the winter. White—Similar to the Red, having white fruit; when planted with the Red it forms a pleasing contrast. SUMACH (Rhus). Cut-Leaved—A decidedly attractive shrub of moderate size, with deeply cut leaves, almost fern-like in appearance; foliage turns to a rich crimson in autumn, Typhina (Stag's Horn Sumach)—A large shrub or tree: brilliant foliage and scarlet fruit in autumn.
