We have in our pofleffion apreferved fpecimen of the caterpillar of Phalaena Fraxini, fent fromGermany ; but as it is of that kind in which the colours and formcannot be preferved well, we have preferred giving an exa6l copyof the caterpillar as well as chryfalis, from the works of a refpeda-ble, but little known author, Ammiral. This author appears tohave been Angularly fortunate in prefenting a figure of the caterpillar,when the accurate Roefel did not publiih a figure of the moth tillhis fourth volume, and was not then in poiTeffion of the caterpillar. Some of our readers will be perhaps furprifed to find that ourfigures precifely agree with thofe contained in the Aurelian of ourcountryma
