A group of Central American migrants plays a game of street soccer (football) while waiting beside the tracks to hop a train.
After almost a year of simmering conflict the Juan Diego Migrant shelter in the Lecheria neighborhood north of Mexico City, was symbolically closed by neighbors complaining of drugs, crime and unsanitary conditions on their streets. The Catholic Church, which runs the sanctuary for economic refugees from Central America, near the railroad lines that go north to the US border, then officially closed it on Monday July 9, 2012, leaving the migrants with no option for food or shelter in the area. Farther on up the tracks heading north, a group of Guatemalan men play soccer beside the railline while waiting to hop a freight train.
