Menstrual cycle : menstruation. The drop in the estrogens and progesterone rates (due to the degenerescence of the corpus luteum) provokes the necrosis of the superficial part of the uterine mucous (the one that proliferated during the follicular phase of the cycle), responsible for the blood flow.
