The population in 1840 was morethan 2,000, and in 1900 was 7,670. 560 Planting of the Cities Uniontowii, in Fayette county, was laid out in 1767 by HenryBeeson, a Friend, who came to the locaHty from Virginia, andin allusion to whom the place for many years was called BeesonsTown.
