ANTARCTICA - Bust of Luis Pardo Villalón (1882-1935) erected in tribute by the Chilean navy at Base Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva on King George Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. Commonly known as Piloto Pardo, he was the captain of the steam tug Yelcho which rescued the 22 stranded crewmen of Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance from Elephant Island, Antarctica, in August 1916.
