. Florists' review [microform]. Floriculture. 142 The Flcxrists^ Review FiBBCABT 28. 1922 NASHVILLE, TENN. The Market. The last two weeks have been the coldest of the year thus far. Daffodils are beginning to come in from the out- side in sufficient numbers to be offered in a small way on the streets. We were so unfortunate as to have a rainy St. Valentine's day, which, un- doubtedly, hurt business. For the first time in the history of Nashville, the flo- rists had a cooperative advertisement in the daily press previous to St. Valen- tine's day and, in spite of the unfavor- able weather, business was good. Every one feels sure that, had the weather been at all favorable, we would have done a record-breaking business. As hinted in our last report, the situa- tion in carnations has changed radically here recently. These are coming plenti- fully now and thov are of excellent qual- ity. Roses continue to arrive freely, but the quality is not so good as it was a month ago. Sweet peas are beginning to come rather freely and of excellent quality. Hyacinths and tulips were fine sellers for St. Valentine's day. Various Notes. Last week the first gladioli were planted in the field, but heavy rains stopped operations. Those who were fortunate enough to get their bulbs planted before the rains will doubtless reap a reward. Harold Joy has been confined to his bed ever since reaching home from the carnation meet in the east. He was so unfortunate as to contract a case of in- fluenza. P. B. Classified Ads.
