Male red-footed falcon (Falco vespertinus) preening while perching on a branch. This bird of prey is found in eastern Europe and Asia, but has become a near-threatened species (as of 2008) due to habitat loss and hunting. It preys mainly on large insects but also feeds on small mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Photographed in Hungary in spring.
