An engraved ostrich egg, England or Scandinavia, circa 1700 Intact ostrich egg with a small round opening in the centre of the bottom. Finely engraved decoration with black colouring over the entire surface. The main scene surrounding the egg is a detailed illustration of three large whaling ships, with numerous longboats with whalers harpooning grey or Greenland whales.
