This hand-coloured woodengraving portays the event which became [in the sixteenth century at least] the most important of Nostradamus' prophecies. Henri died in consequence of the accident portrayed in the print, when the lance of his opponent slipped and pierced his eye. The woodcut is from Tortorel and Perrissin, 1570.
