Nowhere was the quotation higher than $2 per hundred Saturday, and this was top all the week, with thousands dis- posed of at half that figure. One whole- sale house received in the six days nearly 20,000 blooms. Several thousand were still unsold Saturday afternoon. It was different with orchids. The best gigas rose to $50 per hundred and the market was milked dry on Satur- day. Oncidiums, however, seem to have lost prestige. A year ago retail windows were brilliant with the beau- tiful sprays. A scarcity of cattleyas, however, is likely to make higher values this week. The gladiolus flood has receded. In fact, this week they cease to be a factor in the market. There seems yet to be no diminution in the aster ship- ments, and the quality of the late ar- rivals is excellent.
