Thh first edition of this list appeareti in i86i, under theauspices of the Field newspaper. A supplement was added inl86q fioin the same source. Since the latter date, the work hasremained in abeyance, the edition having been exhausted. Though chargeable with many shortcomings the NewBibliotheca Piscatoria was. numerically, at least, an importantadvance on its predecessors. For bibliographical uses it maybe well to recapitulate here who were those predecessors andwhat their value and importance.
