Farquhar Co., Boston, visited the ex- hibition of the National Sweet Pea Socie- ty, in London. Notice of the petition in bankruptcy of the firm of De Giorgi Bros., of Council Bluffs, la., will be found under the head- ing, '' Business Embarrassments.'' The death of John K. M. L. Farquhar, head of the noted seed house of R. & J. Farquhar Co., Boston, is recorded in this week's obituary column. Mrs. C. B. Knickman, wife of the well known member of the staff of McHutchi- Bon & Co., New York, died July 20. Fur- ther notice appears in this week's obitu- ary column. The Everett B. Clark Seed Co., Mil- ford, Conn., reports that too much rain has interfered with the harvesting of hay and that it may have a bad effect on the onion and beet seed crops. Hugh Dickson, of Alex. Dickson & Sons, Belfast, Ireland, has left the Emer- ald isle, together with his eldest son, to become associated witli the seed growing firm of Thomas Cullen & Son, Witham, Essex, England. All of the holdings of the J. K. Rug- owski Seed Co., Manitowoc, Wis., not al- ready held by Mr. Rugowski have been purchased by him. He expects to straighten out the company's affairs shortly and meet all obligations within a brief period. J. W.
