The downy nestling is characterized by a very broad un-broken buff streak above the eye, and a well-defined darkstreak through the cheek. The windpipe of the Garganey is about seven inches inlength; the form of the bony enlargement nearly oval, andplaced so as to appear like a continuation of the trachealtube; the enlargement is in the front, and the bronchialtubes come off from the flattened inner surface which liesupon the ANSERHS.
