Theforehead is white ; above which itis black. The reft of the head isthroat, and round the neck, arewhite ; under which there is a broad black liftencompaffing the neck. Another lift of blackcroffes the breaft, from the fhoulder of one wingto that of the other. Except which, the breaftand belly are white. The back and wings arebrown ; the larger quill feathers being of a darkerbrown. The fmall rump feathers, which coverthree quarters of the tail, are of a yellowifli lower part of the tail is black. The legsand feet of a ftraw colour. It hath no back Birds are very frequent both in Virginiaand Carolina ; and are a great hinderance toFowlers, by alarming the game with their fcream-ing noife. In Virginia they are called Kill-deers,from fome refemblance of their noife to the foundof that word. They abide in Carolina and Vir-ginia
